 Brief description of your activity focus
The psychology of terrorism and support for terrorism. Risky taking, and in particular risky and reckless driving by young people.

 Details about Expertise / Competences / Technologies
I am interested in the psychology of extreme and risky behaviour. In terms of extreme behaviour I am
research active in the areas of terrorism and support for terrorism and have published papers in peer-
reviewed international journals on this topic. In term of risky behaviour I have published on firearms
suicide, policing, victimisation, repeat victimisation, restorative justice and drug, alcohol and tobacco
misuse. I am lead investigator on a Road Safety Authority (RSA) funded projects examining the the impact
of threat appeals on risky driving by young adults in Ireland (2010-2013) (RISK: COMMS), on correlates of
risk taking (RISK:PROFILE) and on the the use of technology in moderating risky driving (RISK:MONITOR).
