The Department for International Cooperation is specialised in Vocational education for sustainable development and curriculum development.

 Details about Expertise / Competences / Technologies
The Department for International Cooperation works closely with other educational institutes, in particular
with “Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH”. In collaboration with GIZ,
we offer further training, incipient with certificate degrees (e.g. study “project management”) and master
degree programmes (e.g. study “International Vocational Education”) to extra-occupational PhD study.
Moreover, we propose unitised offer to get to know the updated and international relevant fields of action.
The international cooperation structure of the Department for International Cooperation supports the
further training and the unitised offer.

Another main field of action of the Department for International Cooperation is the UNEVOC Centre
“Vocational Education for Sustainable Development”, which is a collaboration between GIZ, University of
Magdeburg and Fraunhofer Institute for Factory Operation and Automation (IFF) to realize the goals and
strategies of UNESCO and UNESCO-UNEVOC International Centre. Within the main focus “Vocational
Education for Sustainable Development” of the UNEVOC Centre, the Department for International
Cooperation is specialised in the following five subjects:

  • Vocational education for sustainable development,

  • Concepts for education and further training of internal skilled employees (e.g. several projects of
    further training for leadership development),

  • Curricula and teaching material/learning aid for vocational education and further training,

  • Innovative learning environment for education and further training,

  • Internal human resource development.

  • The Department for International Cooperation based at the University of Magdeburg is part of the
    Department of Vocational Education and Training and Human Resource Development. The overlapping with
    this department enhances the close collaboration with each other in order to get the best research
    outcome. Prof. Frommberger, who is an expert in international and comparative vocational education and
    training, and Prof. Jenewein, who is an expert in action-oriented learning in vocational education and
    learning in virtual reality, support the professional research of the Department for International
