Institute of Sociology Russian Academy of Sciences is the leading state sociological research Institute, which develops the fundamental problems of sociological theory, a large-scale empirical research, providing opportunities not only for the further development of sociological theories, but also to develop practical recommendations on contemporary social and political practices. The Institute was founded in 1968. A highly professional academic staff works for the Institute.
I have been working for the Institute of Sociology for 10 years. My specializing is in the study of ethnicity and immigration. I have got experience in this field for 15 years. I was involved in a number of projects devoted to the interethnic tolerance; the immigrant’s integration; the immigrant’s networks and the adaptation needs of Diasporas in the Russian society. I have also experience of participating in a few international projects, one of them - “Tolerance and Intolerance in the Post-Soviet Press: Applying New Methods of Measurement and Evaluation” (INTAS). Now I am involved in the project on “Ethnic minority media in post-soviet Russia”. I try to develop this project, first of all, in European context; secondly, in the context of diasporic and immigrants communication. I also try to extend my investigation to the role of ICT in the incorporation and all kind of participation of immigrants and ethnic minorities in Russian and, in comparison, European societies.
