Details about Expertise / Competences / Technologies
I am a field and laboratory archaeobotanist. I also have experience in ethnobotanical research, primarily in the area of traditional (non-mechanised) food processing. For the past ten years Ive investigated the role of food processing in human evolution, culinary knowledge, resource intensification, culture, diet and health. My expertise is primarily in hunter-gatherer archaeobotany but at present Im studying prehistoric Indian Ocean diffusions of domesticated crops between Africa, South Asia and East Asia. I have worked on excavations in North America, Europe, the Near East and Africa.
