As for research, the idea of a “humane and ecological shaping of work and technology” serves as a model for a research integration field which also entails a development oriented notion of vocational education and training.
The crystallisation points of these research activities are the development of work and technology in industry and handicrafts, an enhanced development of service tasks in vocational-technical specialist fields, the changes in the corporate organisation and personnel development as well as the shaping of occupational learning and teaching processes in schools and companies and the initial and further training. The development of autonomous vocational scientific research methods plays an important role. A high ranking is assigned to the contents and forms of skilled work immanent in occupations and occupational fields. The interrelationship between the objects of (skilled) work (such as e.g. technology, work organisation, tools etc.) and the resulting potential for education and qualification are in the centre of the research activities.
