Brief description of your activity focus
Specializes in process ontology (i.e., the analysis of our conceptualizations of natural and social processes, actions, and interactions)

Details about Expertise / Competences / Technologies
J. Seibts primary research expertise is ontology, understood as philosophical category theory, i.e., as the formal analysis of our concepts about types of entities (e.g., general concepts such as thing, person, relation, occurrence, etc., but also more specific concepts such as institution, work, conflict etc.). She specializes in the analysis of concepts for processes, both at a general level (e.g., analysis of the notion of a causal mechanism vs. emergence) also at the applied level as a study of conflicts and identity-forming practices. Most recently she has turned to investigating problems in social robotics and the question of value-experience in interactions. She has also research interests in the methodology of intercultural dialogue and conceptual innovation. She is co-editor of the two-volume anthology Theory and Applications of Ontology (2010) which aims to promote and facilitate the collaboration of philosophers and computer scientists working in ontology.
