Elena Ambrosetti is Research Scientist in Demography at the Faculty of Economics and affiliated to the
Department of Science of Ageing -Sapienza University of Rome. Before joining La Sapienza at the end of 2008, she has worked at the University of Aix-Marseille (France) as a Post doctoral teaching fellow and at INED (Paris) as a Post doctoral research fellow with FAO (Food and Agricultural Organisation) training
She holds a doctorate in Demography and Economics (2005/2006) with honors from the Institut dEtudes Politiques in Paris. She wrote her thesis on “Fertility Transition in Egypt” under the supervisor of Philippe Fargues (European University Institute, Florence). In 2001, she got a Master degree in Economics and Demography at the Institut dEtudes Politiques in Paris working on “Social Exclusion in the Paris neighborhood” with Patrick Simon (Research scientist at INED). In March 2000 she graduated with honors in Business and Economics at Sapienza University of Rome with honors. She wrote her final dissertation in Demography, under the supervision of professor Raimondo Cagiano de Azevedo.
During her PhD she was research fellow at the Institut National détudes démographiques (INED) in Paris
and visiting scholar at the Centre détudes et de documentation économiques, juridiques et sociales
(CEDEJ) in Cairo and at the Social Research Center American University in Cairo. She worked as Research Assistant in Demography and Social Statistics at Sapienza University of Rome since 2001.
