To make a positive social and economic impact on peoples lives through mobilizing human resources and
bridging the gap between potential and performance, particularly among youth in Egypt.
Our goals are to:
•Build a base of future visionary leaders
•Promote excellence in human achievement
•Foster a socially responsible generation with the spirit of giving back
•High Quality Education: Our interventions focus on high-capability children and youth, those with the
highest potential to become agents of progress, especially among disadvantaged communities where
positive change is most required.
•Leadership, Entrepreneurship, and Innovation: Our interventions aim to support future leaders and
entrepreneurs with a keen eye to our regions needs. We are particularly focused on science and
technology as the strongest forces of progress.
•Social Responsibility and Positive Participation: At the heart of a communitys welfare is the investment
that people commit to bring about their own progress. Our interventions encourage a culture of
participation and foster the notion that contributing to society also benefits the self.
•Gifted Children Program
The foundation is keen to close the gap between potential and achievement of intellectually gifted and
high-capability children, particularly in underprivileged life situations, for the betterment of the self,
society and the future.
Our scholarship programs make high quality education accessible to outstanding students who, without
the foundations intervention, would not have access to high quality education. Our relationship with our
Fellows exceeds financial support. We utilize our partners network to engage them in non-academic
programs including leadership skill enhancement, mentoring programs, networking opportunities, and
training on career development.
We offer two kinds of scholarship programs:
•Scholarships for both graduate and undergraduate education in partnership with specific reputable
institutions of higher education. We currently offer scholarships in collaboration with the American
University in Cairo (AUC) and the British University in Egypt (BUE).
•The Leaders Scholarship Program aims to enable Egyptians for future leadership roles in their fields of
study through academic scholarships. This program provides opportunities for both undergraduate and
graduate education at universities both within Egypt and abroad. The ideal candidate for the Leaders
Scholarship Program is a student who has demonstrated superior leadership qualities both academically
and within his/her community through extra-curricular activities.
•Al Alfi Award for Excellence in Civic Engagement and Philanthropy at AUC
Al Alfi Foundation, in partnership with the Gerhart Center for Philanthropy and Civic Engagement at the
American University in Cairo (AUC), has established an annual award to honor socially responsible
undergraduate students at the AUC with an outstanding record of civic engagement and leadership, and
to support their innovative development initiatives.

A- Gifted Children Program:
The program design is based on a holistic approach that takes into consideration not only the academic
and intellectual needs but rather the overall wellbeing of the child and his/her family.
1.Academic Enrichment: Summer and mid-year intensive programs that focus on science, maths and
technology, as well as year-round academic support enrichment sessions aimed at:
◦Improving critical thinking skills integral to content learning.
◦Developing attitudes for lifelong learning.
◦Developing problem solving skills.
◦Growth in conceptualization of science and technology.
2.Financial Education: This component aims to give children a head start in financial literacy to raise the
awareness about one of the most critical keys to success. Materials under development are age
appropriate and cover personal, local, regional and global finances.
3.Social Responsibility: Gifted children often express a profound desire to make a positive contribution to
their world. This component aims to cultivate this sense of social responsibility and instill humane values
that encourage them to think beyond themselves and prepare them for responsible leadership. Projects
undertaken span local community service initiatives to global issues such as environment and peace.
4.Social Well-Being: This component aims at improving self-confidence and social performance to enhance
aspirations for individual excellence and fulfillment. It takes into consideration the physical and
psychological well being of the child and his/her family in the context of their overall life situation.
