Stefanos Spaneas, PhD, is a lecturer in social work at the University of Nicosia, Cyprus. Beginning his
study from the department of Social Work of ATEI of Athens, he acquired his doctoral title with
scholarship of the State Scholarships Foundation of Greece at the University of Bath, England.
His research interests lie in the areas of: Design and development of integrated health and social care
organisations; The investigation of Organisational Learning and Learning Organisation role as a model
to improve effectiveness and efficiency of provided services by social care organisations; Community
Programmes Development aiming to the activation of citizens; and Policies of Social Cohesion for
Asylum Seekers and Refugees. He is also interested in qualitative research methods in social work.
Moreover, he is a referee in the scientific magazine ‘Qualitative Social Work’.
He has an extensive experience as practitioner in the sectors of Migration (asylum seekers, third counry
nationals, refugees), including relocation, Local Authority, Juvenile Delinquency and Motor Disability.
He has participated to a number of national and European funded research projects, while in a number
of them as project coordinator.
