The Faculty of Arts is teaching and research institution in the fields of humanities and social sciences.

The University of Ljubljana, which was founded in 1919, is a university that possesses a rich tradition. It ranks as a very large university with more than 63,000 graduate and postgraduate students, approximately 4000 higher education teachers, which are employed at 22 faculties, 3 art academies and one university college.
The University of Ljubljana practices basic, applied and development researches and strives for excellence and quality of the highest standards in all fields of science and arts, such as humanities, social sciences, linguistics, arts, medicine, natural sciences and technology. Basing on its own research projects as well as advances in research at home and abroad, the University provides education and training to prominent scientists and experts, capable of leading the sustainable development in view with respecting the legacy of European Enlightenment and Humanism as well as basic human rights. The University also promotes interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary studies.
