I am a researcher in Law and Information Security, with a focus on transborder digital investigations, cybercrime, privacy, and sovereignty.

I am a Ph.D. Candidate in Law and Information Security, in the context of a dual degree program between Vrije
Universiteit Brussel Law School (Brussels, Belgium) and Korea University Graduate School of Information Security
(Seoul, South Korea). My doctoral thesis focuses on transborder digital investigations, cybercrime, privacy,
sovereignty and jurisdiction.
My research experience includes the participation in EU-funded surveillance research projects: the IRISS project
(Increasing Resilience in Surveillance Societies) and SAPIENT project (Surveillance, Privacy & Ethics). I also
coordinated the PHAEDRA project on cooperation between data protection authorities.
My other academic activities include participation in EUROPOLs Data Protection Network, and consultancy for EU
institutions, the International Association of Penal Law, think tanks, governments, universities and research
My doctoral programme has given me opportunities to present at international conferences and international
expert fora for data protection authorities, including APEC’s Asia Pacific Privacy Authorities Forum and the
International Conference of Privacy and Data Protection Commissioners.
