Details about Expertise / Competences / Technologies
TUDISTAR is a multidisciplinary research group created in 1995 at the Autonomus University of Barcelona based in a
multidisciplinary vision of the tourism sector. The group includes professors, associate professors and PhD students
from a wide variety of disciplines, among them geography, economics, city planning, tourism and gender studies.
Research lines and transfer capabilities: Cultural and Heritage Tourism, Accessible Tourism, Rural Tourism,
Industrial Tourism and Urban and City Tourism.
Social innovation through participation is one of the lines linked with the vision of universal accessibility and social
sustainability. We work around the concept of co creation of culture engaging the different publics (young, people
with disabilities and/or special needs, elderly...) , administrations, local community and private enterprise, with a
special emphasis in museums.
We believe in an innovative use of cultural heritage, more inclusive and sustainable, to connect it to citizens and
visitors. The industrial tourism contributes to the renovation and maintenance of historic buildings and at the
same time it approaches the audience to its past and present common history.
