Brief description of your activity focus
Research and innovation activities benefiting the development of young people in South Eastern Europe and beyond

Details about Expertise / Competences / Technologies
In 2002, KULT was created as a local NGO, initially implementing socio-cultural activities in larger Sarajevo. After
gradually expanding our expertise to all key domains of the youth sector, we started to endorse the national
youth law by drafting relevant documents and by advocating for its parliamentary legislation. As a result, in May
2011, KULT was awarded with the status “Institute for Youth Development”. Since then, our Institute is
commissioned to conduct consultancy services in the youth sector, such as statistical surveys, research projects
and advisory services carried out nationwide as well as on the international floor. Parallel to providing expert
advice and comprehensive services to government agencies and international development partners, our
commitment to the benefit of youth continues to be our core interest. In our capacity as civil society organization
we therefore participate proactively in calls, tenders and support measures aiming to promote the socio-cultural
development and active citizenship of young people.

Currently, the Institute has 25 staff members and around 30 active volunteers. Near our head office, we are
managing the youth competence center SPAJALICA one of only a few institutions in BH fully dedicated to advocate
for non-formal education and life-long learning. The center also provides lodging facilities and hosts
youth encounters and exchange programs.

By coordinating a network of more than one hundred youth umbrella organisations representing and advocating
for local youth NGOs, initiatives and activists, KULT is operating nationwide by linking their commitment with all
relevant government structures. For this reason, we have signed cooperation agreements with local
administrations and formal partnerships with various ministries and commissions.

The learning experiences generated by our programs as well as the outcomes of all other projects and initiatives
are systematically shared, reflected and disseminated. Apart from our bilingual website (www.youth.ba) where
in-depth info, reports and research material are made available, KULT is regularly publishing the quarterly
IUVENTA, an 80 page magazine addressing topics relevant for the youth sector in the Western Balkans. IUVENTA’s
intended readership comprises youth experts in science, administration and the social field including NGOs and
activists.
