Brief description of your activity focus
Intergovernmental negotiations, legislative politics in democracies and non-democracies, automated web data collection methods, quantitative methods
Details about Expertise / Competences / Technologies
My research focuses on intergovernmental negotiations (e.g. bargaining success, coalition-formation, consensus decision-making) and legislative politics (e.g., executive-legislative relations, agenda-setting, party group cohesion, parliamentary voting, coalition-formation, bicameral bargaining). In terms of methodological skills, I have used various different approaches, both qualitative and quantitative, in my work, but increasingly employ automated data collection methods to assemble large-scale data sets from online sources and analyse them quantitatively through classic statistical and/or network analytical techniques. In terms of case knowledge, I have particular area expertise in the European Union (democratic separation of power system) and pre-WWI Germany (non-democratic separation of power system).
