The Canary Doctor Barajas Foundation for Prevention and Research on Deafness (FDB) was established by
Dr Jose Juan Barajas de Prat in 1986, as a not-for-profit organization of public interest and also, it’s listed
in the Register of collaborating entities in social care services.
The Foundation is a multidisciplinary team formed by professionals in speech-language pathologist,
neurophysiology, audiology, psychology, and neurology, among others.
The FDB collaborate with other foundations and national and international associations with similar objectives.
FDBs mission is to help people with hearing disabilities to improve their hearing and communication conditions as a
determining factor in his being and personal dignity.
The main objective of the FDB, is to contribute better to people who suffer hearing deficits enjoy a
normal life and live in conditions of equality through their complete educational, employment and social
The FDBs vision is to become integrity, effective and responsive to the reality of people with hearing disabilities
through a caring, social, research and teaching institution. Their principal values are Integrity, Professionalism,
Efficiency, Trust, Innovation, Solidarity and Knowledge.
Main areas of activity of the FDB are:

Finally, be noted that since its establishment, the FDB has worked at hand in hand with the local (Canary Islands
Government), national (Spain institutions) and international (WHO, AECID) authorities in develop projects for
improve the life for people with hearing impairment.
