We are a spin off (SME) dedicated to applied research in social and environmental sciences with an interdisciplinary team.

ICSA was born in 1995 as a spin-off of the University dedicated to applied research and specialized
training, over the years has expanded into other policy areas such as consulting and implementation of
public administration studies, businesses and third sector.
With an interdisciplinary study/working group with a common interest in research and development from
different professional and academic institutions, working on the better understanding and greater
disclosure as possible of the progress and achievement on the development, environment and society.

Professor Dr. Mariano Soriano Urban Specialist in Social and Environmental Psychology.
Director of Social Sciences of ICSA from 1997.
Professor of Faculty of Psychology of the University of Murcia.
Member of Editorial Committe of the publication ECOS (Spain).
From 1991 to 1997 Chief of Environmental Education and Public Use of Natural Protected Areas of Murcia
Visiting Professor at the University of Varanasi (India) in 2002
The connection between the production of knowledge and its applicability to the analysis and resolution
of social problems has been a common denominator throughout his academic career and work
experience. For that reason he have always tried to enhance his training and professional experience in
the environmental and social sciences by participating in the programmes of international organisms and
regional intergovernmental bodies. As a participant in programmes of the European Community (1995), the
United Nations (1996); UICN CEESP consultant (1995- today); Member of the American Association for
Advance of Science from 1992 (AAAS); member and founding partner of the Asociación por el Avance de
la Ciencia y la Teconología en España (AACTE). He has acquired a wider and deeper vision of the complex
socio-economic issues involved in development. Within its scope has remained as a consultant working
visits to Kenya, Tanzania, Nepal and India, can say that adequately meets their idiosyncrasy.
Since 2000 he has participated in the direction of development of indicators for sustainable development
locally and regionally, as well as the development of new indicators and related methodologies.
He has published numerous articles and books. Highlighting the unique manual Applied Environmental
Psychology published in Spain and two recent publications on Indicators for Sustainable Development.
Extensive research experience methodology development of indicators to measure human development
Extensive experience of working in and leading research teams.
Experienced in using quantitative and qualitative research methods.

This last year (2011) five members of ICSA have been european expert evaluator for The Commission in the FP7,
in different topics: Environment (including Climate Change), People and SSH.
In 2010 M.S.Urban was european expert evaluator for The Commission in Valuing Biodiversity Programmes (FP7).
During this period we have counseled and imparted actions directed to the development of projects for FP7
both nationally and internationally (workshops and seminars).
