 Brief description of your activity focus
At my PhD i worked on mathematical models from Algebraic Topology and how they can be applied to High Energy Physics. Expertise in Science Education

PhD in Computational Physics, University of Glasgow, 1988, Msc in Information Technology University of
Athens 2002, Bsc in Physics University of Athens 1983.

I have taught in several Universities for Undergraduate and Postgraduate level (Supervising Master
and PhD theses) about Science Education and ICT, e-learning and Evaluation-Research Methodology,
Teacher’s training in Science Education. Since 2008 I am member of the Hellenic Open University for
Supervision of theses for the Course «Natural Sciences and Didactics».
I have published more than 120 publications in International Journals and Conferences for issues related
to Science Education, Physics Education, ICT in Education.

Currently I am responsible on behalf of my Institution for
1. the Pathway Project (project FP7-Science-in-Society-2010-1, Coordination and support actions
(Supporting). Activity 5.2.2 Young people and science.SiS-2010-2.2.1-1 Supporting and coordinating
actions on innovative methods in science education: teacher training on inquiry based teaching
methods on a large scale in Europe- Grant Agreement Number SIS-CT-2010-266624, The Pathway to
inquiry Based Science Teaching. One of its activities concerns the inclusion of digital means and science
museums for teaching students and teachers training(http://www.bayceer.uni-bayreuth.de/pathway/).
2. the project TRACON (Training teachers in developing consumer awareness among children) of
Education, Audiovisual and Culture Executive Agency- EACEA -
http://eacea.ec.europa.eu/index_en.php-Comenius Sub programme. For this program I am responsible
for the development of the Moodle platform fir teachers’ training.
3. the Teachers’ training program for in service teachers-lasting 350 hours- supported by the
European support Programme 2007-2013, for the Didactical use of ICT in Science Education.
In this project I am responsible for the management and scientific coordination of Science Teachers for

2000-2004: From 2000-2004, I offered my services as Advisor to the Greek Minister of Education(2000-2004) on
issues related to the integration of ICT in Education and Teacher Education Policies as well as the development
of Indicators for Objectives 1.1 for teachers training and I was Coordinator-as Representative of the Greek
Government- of the European Network of Teacher Education Policies-ENTEP-- http://entep.unibuc.eu/ .
